National Young Mathematicians' Award - Explore Learning

National Young Mathematician's Award:

Today, a group of talented mathematicians took part in Explore Learning's National Young Mathematicians' Award. Explore works hand-in-hand with NRICH to provide opportunities for children to excel in mathematics and test their reasoning skills to the maximum! Today was the first round and our children represented the school wonderfully. We will find out shortly whether or not they have advanced to the next round. The final will be held at Cambridge University!

A huge well done to Ruby, Isobel, Isabelle and Jessica! Here's what they had to say about the afternoon:

"Today, we went to Explore Learning to take part in the NYMA. We had fifty-five minutes to complete challenges related to 'Sticky Dice'. We were tasked with four difficult challenges that pushed us to our limits! For the first challenge, we had to find a way of making the total of four dice come to each number from 11 to 18; however, the tricky part was that the faces of the adjacent dice (that were touching) had to be the same number! We had to compete against other schools from Liverpool and will have to face ones from around the country should we progress to the next round. Everything about today was so much fun and I had a great time!" - Ruby, Isobel, Isabelle & Jessica.
