Individual Liberty
Individual Liberty - Cross-curricular Project
Each year group explores the meaning of individual liberty through a cross-curricular project with History and Literacy. Year 3 delve into the Magna Carta. They consider why it was made and the impact it has on our individual liberty today. Year 4 take a look at the more recent, American Civil Rights Movement. Rosa Parks is the focus of their study as they examine the difference in freedoms between white and black Americans. The suffragettes movement is the topic of consideration for year 5. They research the prominent figures of the time, such as Emmeline Pankhurst and the WSPU. They use this research to write a newspaper article explaining why the women are so desperate to fight for their individual liberty. Year 6 focus on the ethical issues of the Slave trade and how it shaped our city.
