Year 4: Project 4 - Geography - Rivers

Rivers

In school, we had started our mountains and rivers project. After we had finished learning about mountains, we were going to learn about:

  • How rivers are formed and the journey of a river from its source to the sea.
  • The route of the River Mersey and the major features and settlements along its length.
  • How human activity effects rivers with a focus on the impact of hydro-electric dams on the Yangtze River and the effect on people who live close to and who use the river for different reasons.

This week’s task is for you to complete your own rivers project. This will give you a chance to show off your research, writing and drawing skills. This is also a great opportunity to learn more about our city’s major river, the River Mersey – How many interesting facts can you find?

You can use the diagram and the mountains and river knowledge organiser to help you with your research. In addition, you can use your knowledge of the water cycle, in science, and also your learning from our European geography topic, when we compared Liverpool and Barcelona. There are also some useful links below to help you.
