2022- 2023 Collaborative Projects
Autumn
- Introducing Salesians Ripoll to the Year 4 children. They will be shown a video message from the Salisian children, introducing themselves and giving a tour of their school. The video will represent a typical day in their school. They will also send a video, in return, introducing St Francis de Sales. Children will be able to orally discuss their similarities and differences with the Salisian Ripoll children. They will contrast and compare their daily life in school to the Spanish school. The video will engage the children and motivate them to create strong links with their partner school.
- Links through Art - Year 4 will complete an art study on a famous artist from Barcelona (Antoni Gaudi). They will look at the techniques and style used by the artist. They will then present their work via Zoom to the Welsh link school. Children will be able to show an appreciation for Gaudi and the architecture of the city of Barcelona.
Spring
- Link with Geography - Children explore the human and physical geography of Barcelona and compare and contrast the findings with our own city location. This will focus on different aspects of the lessons that are part of the sequence of events for Geography. Children will be able to compare and contrast their geographical location, landmarks and key features of their environment.. They will develop their understanding of cultural and economic differences through the geographic lens.
Summer
- Link with Music- Children will complete a study of traditional Spanish music. They may choose to focus on a style or person. This will link with International Music week. Children will also learn Spanish phrases through song during this week. They will have a video meeting (virtual concert) with their peers in Barcelona. Children will develop a further understanding of their peers as they explore the culture of music in Barcelona. They will be inspired by the different sounds, styles and compositions of Music from a Spanish origin.
