27/01/17: Holocaust Memorial Day
Today marks Holocaust Memorial Day. It is dedicated to those who suffered in the Holocaust, under Nazi Persecution (alongside subsequent atrocities in other areas of the world). The memorial was first held in 2001 and was chosen due to the 27th January, 1945 being the date that Auschwitz concentration camp was finally liberated.
We took some time out of our morning to carry out a Collective Worship. We shared what we already know about the Holocaust and discussed how we can learn from the past to ensure that it doesn't happen again. We then took a few minutes to ourselves, to think quietly about the video we had watched and the horrors that took place during and prior to the Second World War.
