D&T Days
Over the course of the last two days, we have been having so much fun learning even more about Design & Technology. Firstly, we listened to some of the first-hand stories from the incredible rides at Port Aventura – we even watched a few of the rides in action! We were delighted to discover that we would be creating our own rollercoaster rides.
We were amazed by some of the amazing things that we learned about potential and kinetic energy, centrifugal force and the impact of forces, gears and motors. After researching some of the structures of rides (both at Port Aventura and Alton Towers), we made a ‘prototype’ ride and then evaluated our own work and the work of our class mates, looking for ways to improve our own. We even made suggestions to the other groups. It was interesting to hear the suggestions for improvements and it was essential that we took this advice to improve our next models!
