As part of the Cooking and Nutrition element of our Design and Technology curriculum, Year 4 pupils have been discovering how cold pasta salads can be a healthy alternative to sandwiches. After learning about the nutritional qualities of differnt ingredients, children had the chance to taste test different types of pasta, a variety of meat and vegetables, as well as different types of sauces that can be used. The children were brave in trying foods that they had not tasted before or do not ordinarily eat, with many finding out that they liked some ingedients more than they previously thought. By tasting testing different foods, children had a better understanding of what ingredients they would include when planning to make their own pasta salads.
