Today, Year 4 and Year 5 got their ‘phil’ of classical music at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. We visited to watch (and more importantly listen) to a concert, which was titled ‘Come to Your Senses’. The concert was all about composers throughout time who had composed pieces of music that highlighted one of our five senses: touch, taste, smell, sight and hearing. This included Sibelius’ ‘Finlandia’, which was based around the sights of Finland, and Ravel’s ‘Empress of the Pagodas’, which was based on the smell of jasmine. One of the exciting pieces of music was from the film ‘The Incredibles’ and we felt like we were a part of the film as bright lights flashed across the room. We also got to perform a song that we had learned called ‘The Witch’ and we even got to act as the orchestra’s conductor for one of the pieces of music!
