04/10/2017 - Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat @ The Liverpool Empire Theatre
Year 5 at the Liverpool Empire Theatre:
As part of our RE unit of work (Ourselves), we have been looking at the unique talents and qualities that we possess and that those closest to us possess. It is sometimes difficult for us to take a look at ourselves and confidently state what we are good at and what makes us different from those around us.
Two of our children showed immense talent and astounding qualities as they participated in the wonderful and brilliant production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's famous family musical - Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Keira and Rae were part of the choir (who we believe stole the show) that were supporting X-Factor winner Joe McElderry as Joseph in his coveted coat. Not only was this a chance to watch some top-quality theatre, but it was also a great chance to immerse ourselves in the biblical story of Joseph and his eleven brothers, who embark upon a journey of forgiveness - one of the key qualities we have been discussing in RE.
Stay tuned for some photographs and comments from our children...including (if they can spare us some time from their busy schedules!), a quick catch up with Keira and Rae themselves!
Update:
We managed to sneak in a few words with the stars!
'When I was singing in the performance, I was extremely nervous. I stepped on stage and took a few deep breaths. I could see everyone from my Year Group in the audience, I was flabbergasted! The qualities that I showed were bravery and courage. It took so much hard work for me to even be able to audition for the theater, nevermind perform in front of a packed audience! I was awe-struck by the actors and it was a real bonus to meet them and work with them. I definitely recommend getting involved in performing as it highlights so many personal qualities and is a real talent.

Joseph and his technicolor dreamcoat was a fun performance packed with amazing songs. In rehearsals, we all worked hard to improve our performance - it was seriously tough and required a lot of commitment. The Empire itself was incredibly inspiring and it is an honour to say that I have performed there alongside some wonderful actors and actresses. During the show, I became more confident and independent. I loved performing, especially in front of the whole of Year 5 and I hope to have another opportunity like this soon.
