02/03/2018: Fractions
This week, some of us have been finding fractions of different numbers. In order to find the fraction of a given number, we divided numbers by the denominator.
For example, to find 1/3 of 18 we divided 18 by 3.
18 ÷ 3 = 6
1/3 of 18 = 6
Furthermore, we focused on a range of different reasoning questions which required us to use our understanding of fractions. The questions varied from finding missing fractions, the odd fraction out and explaining why a statement is correct or not.
Why not have a go at the following questions?
A) Odd one out
Which is the odd one out in each of these trios?
1/2 3/6 5/8
3/9 2/6 4/9
Why?
B) Ted says: I have one pizza cut into 6 equal pieces. I have eaten 6/6 of the pizza.
Does Ted have any pizza left?
Explain your answer.
