Year 3 Science Trip

Yesterday, Class 1 and Class 2 went to Croxteth Park to learn about animals, harvesting and plants. We all had to wear old shoes or wellies and we travelled there on a coach in the morning. When we got off the coach, we walked into Home Farm, where we saw sheep, goats, chickens, cows, horses and even bunnies. It was so muddy and smelly that we had to hold our noses!

After lunch, we went to do some surprise activities. We met Mr. Grub, Mr. Dib and Mr. Marrow outside the garden area. Mr. Marrow gave us a list of foods he wanted us to collect. We harvested carrots, potatoes, pears, apples, beetroot, rhubarb and onions. We got to put them in a wheel barrow and push it around the gardens. He also told us to eat some plants that were spicy and definitely not poisonous!

After we delivered the food to Mr. Marrow, we went inside to learn about seeds, roots and how plants grow. We twisted, pulled and snipped to get the seeds and beans out of the plants. We were allowed to take home some of the seeds to plant next Spring. Mr. Marrow gave us a huge bag of vegetables to take back to school, and we are hoping to make some vegetable stew out of it! Yummy!

I had a great time. Thank you to Mrs. Carson and Mrs. Seymour for organising it.
