Wales

This year, following our Geography topic of the United Kingdom, our Year 3 children will be working together with Ysgol Bro Banw in Wales.

Although not an international link, the school partnership is an important step in creating global citizens who have a cultural awareness and understanding of the world around them and the different settings in the United Kingdom.

Our link school Wales is an urban setting which will create a range of comparing and contrasting opportunities for both schools.

2022- 2023 Collaborative Projects

Autumn 

• Year 3 will be shown a video message from the Welsh children, introducing themselves and giving a tour of their school. The video will represent a typical day in their school. They will also send a video, in return, introducing St Francis de Sales.
• Links through Art - Year 3 will complete an art study on a famous artist from Wales. They will look at the  techniques and style used by the artist. They will then present their work via Zoom to the Welsh link school. 

Spring 

• Link with Geography - Children explore the human and physical geography of Wales and compare and contrast the findings with our own city location. Children may also be able to visit each other at a central location and spend the day together. Children will recognise similarities and differences and have the opportunity to learn more about the Welsh school compared to St Francis de Sales. Children will ask questions and learn more about each other during play time and lunch time.

Summer

• Link with Music - Children will complete a study of traditional Welsh music. They may chose to focus on a style or person. This will also link with International Music week. Children will develop a further understanding of their peers as they explore the culture of music in China. They will be inspired by the different sounds, styles and compositions of Music from a Chin origin. Children will develop a further understanding of their peers as they explore the culture of music in Wales. They will be inspired by the different sounds, styles and compositions of Music from a Welsh origin.
