Character Inferences

After exploring the wordless book 'Small Things', the children proved it was possible to read a book without words. During the lesson, the children wrote about what was happening and how the character was feeling.

Weekly Comprehensions 

Every week, the Year 5 children complete a timed reading comprehension independently to develop and show an understanding of the text they have read. A different question type comes under particular focus each week to improve children's skills in tackling them; however, the whole range of question types are still covered within one comprehension. 

Book Reviews

After Year 5 pupils finish reading our 'Story Sessions' books, they enjoy delving into what they enjoyed about them, considering the effect they had on them and deciding on whether they would recommend them to other people.
