Internet Safety Day

During Internet Safety Day, we explored the concept of trust online. While looking at different scenarios, we discussed whether or not we would feel safe and how we would handle different situations. We were able to explain why the internet is fantastic for helping us do things such as research for homework but it is not always trustworthy and we should be extremely careful when using the internet. Have a listen to our safety tips below!

Summariser

Whilst coding, we worked in pairs to take turns to summarise the computational skills used as we completed a sequence of program outcomes using Code Studio. We needed to explain how we had achieved the sequence and what bugs needed addressing.

Pupil Voice

"I was making the same mistake again and again. I couldn't fix the direction my fish was swimming in my virtual aquarium. I spoke to a friend on my table and they knew exactly how to fix it. They talked me through the problem and I was able to make the changes needed."

Thomas

"Summarising where I was going wrong has helped me to learn from my mistakes. Having to explain to a partner what I had faced during my coding will hopefully prevent me from making the same mistake next time."

Debugging - Explaining and understanding your mistakes!

A great video to explain debugging to any coding novices.
At SFDS we learn from our mistakes. We found that talking about what we needed to fix with our peers helped our overall experience.
