Independent study is a process, a method and a cornerstone of Music in our school.  It is the process in which a student acquires the ability for experimenting, evaluating and critiquing and it includes freedom of choice in determining how and what we play.

We perform in groups and independently in order to build our confidence and demonstrate our learning.

"When I started at this school in Year 3, I was really shy and quiet and didn't have a lot of confidence. I enjoyed our music lessons with Mrs Bowyer and this prompted me to join our school choir in Year 3 and to start up instrument lessons on the saxophone in Year 4. Now, I'm in Year 6 and the confidence I have built up through performing in front of hundreds of adults and children means I feel no fear if I have to give a presentation and I can achieve anything!" - Ava
