Careers Visit to Toxteth Community Fire Service
During our Careers Visit to Toxteth Community Fire Station, we were able to experience and better understand the role of the emergency services within the community, and in particular, the Fire Service.
The children selected were spoken to about the process of joining the Fire Service, and how not many people get in the first time they apply - highlighting the importance of resilience and determination.
We were told that Firefighters need to:
- Have great empathy for others
- Be brave
- Be determined
- Solve problems
- Communicate well
- Work as a team
To make the day and experience a fun one, we also got to sit in a fire engine, wear the protective clothing and use the hoses!
