26/04/17: Irreversible Changes! (Featuring explosions!)

Irreversible Changes:

Today, in Science, we looked at irreversible changes and chemical changes. We discussed the reactants and the products of two separate experiments and then conducted them ourselves! The two experiments we conducted were:

- Milk & Vinegar to produce Casein Plastic

- Bicarbonate of Soda & White Vinegar to produce Carbon Dioxide

The second experiment was definitely everyone's favourite, though - it even featured an explosion as we mixed 100ml of vinegar with the bicarbonate of soda!  This led to the room being full of tension as we tested the last amount - 150ml! Needless to say, we all took cover!

'The second experiment (when we mixed Bicarbonate of Soda & Vinegar) was brilliant and exciting because the second balloon exploded and the third one blew up enormously!' - Ella C

'Today's Science was extremely fun because all of the bottles of vinegar fizzed up and exploded thanks to the carbon dioxide! It was brilliant!' - Emily F

'Today, Science was amazing because we got to experiment using milk and vinegar to make casein plastic & then, we mixed vinegar and bicarbonate of soda into a balloon and one of the balloons exploded! Even Mr Kennedy was scared!' - Adam C

'I want to be in this class!' - Mrs Carden
