24/04/2018: Forces Workshop
Today, Year 3 have been very lucky to participate in a science workshop on forces. As usual, Mr B has created a fun, interactive and interesting workshop where the children have learnt about the different types of forces and then looked at how forces are needed and used in the real world. The children also learnt about a very important British engineer called George Stephenson who is renowned as the “Father of railways”, and how he built the first ever public inter-railway line in the world to use locomotives, the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, which opened in 1830.
Excitedly, the children then worked in pairs to make a model locomotive move on a rail using the pushing and pulling force of an air pump. Each pair was then timed on how fast they moved the locomotive to each station and the pair with the lowest time was the winner.
