05/10/2018: SFDS visit the giants!

A picnic with a difference…

On Friday, Year 6 headed to Princess Park for a picnic with a difference. We had been invited to spend the afternoon with the infamous GIANTS as they bid farewell to the city forever. In typical autumnal fashion, the rain poured but it didn’t dampen our spirits as we ate our lunch and sat on the stunning picnic blankets that each class had beautifully decorated. With ponchos galore, we joined the never ending queue to catch a glimpse of the giants as they had their afternoon siesta. Eventually, it was our turn to meet these colossal creations. We were captivated as we watched the ‘little’ boy’s chest move up and down as he breathed in and out. A highlight was also getting up close to the dog ‘Xolo’ who was happily snoring away (very loudly!).

Unfortunately, we had to head back to school before the giants continued their onward journey to the city centre. However, this is a story that our children will be able to share for generations to come as they can recall how they played a part in a piece of Liverpool history. So long giants, thanks for the memories…
