05/06/2019 - Class 5 & 6 Art Day

Class 5 & 6 have enjoyed being sculptors this week in another fantastic session with our wonderful artist Becky! The children have learned about how to draw the human body accurately and in the correct proportions and then applied this knowledge to create a human sculpture.

Following our trip to Antony Gormley's 'Another Place' back in Autumn term, we thought that it would be fitting to model our sculptures in the style of his artwork on Crosby Beach. The children enjoyed getting their hands messy, experimenting with clay and sculpting tools to create their very own human statues. It was exciting to see the children's different interpretations - we even had a statue posing with a dab! Here's what our pupil's had to say about the day:

Henry, Class 6

I loved making the clay figures and finding out how to make the arms and legs in the correct proportions. I particularly liked forming the head of my sculpture!

Daisy, Class 6

I liked the way that we got to model the sculptures and choose the position that the statue was made in! I also loved the feeling of the clay - when it was wet it felt really smooth!
