Anfield Cemetry
Anfield Cemetery
As part of our ‘Forgotten Heroes’ project, our school worked in partnership with the local Friends of Anfield Cemetery group to locate and commemorate the unmarked graves of two recipients of the Victoria Cross. The project culminated in a moving ceremony where new headstones were unveiled, and our pupils took an active role by reading introductions and citations to honour the bravery of these heroes. To mark and remember them on Remembrance Day, pupils returned to the graves to read prayers and poems, laying tributes and holding a two-minute silence in their memory. This experience gave our children a deep understanding of sacrifice, remembrance, and gratitude for those who served.
