SFDS Buddy Base: You’ve Got a Friend in Me

 

“Buddy Base “ is our friendship space on the yard,  filled with games and activities for pupils who want to build relationships with other pupils. Specially trained “SFDS Buddies” are on hand to offer friendship and fun to any children who may need it during play times and dinner times.

 

We had an assembly to launch our ‘Buddy Base’, and an astonishing 70 children applied to be SFDS Buddies - all with a complete job reference! It is testament to our fantastic and caring pupils that so many pupils applied to become a Buddy– some parents even provided references for their pupils on the application form.

  

This "friendship space" is very popular with our pupils whenever they feel they need it. It helps build co-operative and responsible attitudes for the Buddies, and offers a haven of support and friendship for all pupils if they need it.

 

As Jennifer from Year 6 told us, “The Buddy Base gives everyone a chance to enjoy play times even more. Sometimes, our friends are in clubs during dinner times and, in the past, we would be alone, now when this happens, we can now go to the Buddy Base and enjoy the activities with the 'Buddies'.
