Welcome to our new families!

 

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to our school. Some of you will already be familiar with the building and how things are done and some will be brand new to us. I the summer term we will be holding a meeting with new parents  and welcoming our new pupils for a transition day, so they can see their new class and meet their new teacher.

 

To help everyone as much as we can, we have also put some essential documents and information on this page which we hope will help make moving to the juniors as easy as possible for your children. Please continue to check this page regularly for updates - these will be clearly signposted as new additions.

School Jackets with the school crest

 

Please be aware that the school jacket as pictured above in the slide show is the only jacket allowed in school. This was introduced for several reasons after consultation with parents.

 

• It prevents teasing or worse on the grounds of what coats pupils wear or don't wear.
• It helps us to easily identify our pupils when we are out of school on trips and visits.
• It is significantly less expensive to buy and replace (if lost or damaged) than many of the 'branded' or 'on-trend' coats that otherwise would be brought to school.
• It enables us to provide 'nearly new' coats, at a fraction of the cost, to families throughout the year. We regularly receive donations of coats and other uniform items when pupils have grown out of theirs which helps us to do this.
• It ensures that all pupils have a water resistant coat with a hood. This means pupils can be outside more and it can also be used in PE lessons.
• It looks smart and brings a sense of pride, belonging and identity.

Shoes

 

The rule on school shoes is that they should be black, polishable and with no 'bling' (shiny stuff) or visible logos. Boys shoes especially have become more like a hybrid of shoe and trainer in recent years, and these are acceptable as long as they meet the description above.

 

Please note that pumps in general (including 'Converse style' pumps) and trainers clearly designed for sport are not acceptable as shoes for school.

 

Ultimately, we reserve the right to decide what is acceptable or not.

Play-Pod - a lunchtime like no other!

 

Lunchtimes at our school are like no other. As well as amazing meals prepared by our chef we have the 'Play-Pod'.

 

Play-Pod enables our pupils to play creatively and collaboratively using all kinds of different materials and objects. It encourages learn to manage risk, work together, build and have fun. Our pupils love Play-Pod.

 

There are three 'Golden Rules':

 

Are you having fun?

Are you playing safely?

Are you keeping others safe?

 

If the answer is yes to all of these then pupils can play with the equipment however they wish. Check out this video to see it in action and hear what our pupils have to say about it.
